"For it is Written...." has a variety of genres mixed together on this CD which is Rene's second. With a combination of new age, jazz, classical and world beat, composer Rene brings to us a favourable CD that will fill your heart with joy, happiness and will make your feet want to move to the beat. A very uplifting CD.

"Rene orchestrates the textures behind his piano to add maximum lift to his soaring and memorably classic melodies. Graceful and stylish, Rene seems to have a natural instinct for line and form."

My post-excessive-drinking ritual requires me to stumble, while still intoxicated, to the CD player and plop some Tangerine Dream or a Memorable Melodies from the Movies disc into the CD player to temporarily sidestep the realization that a hangover headache is nigh. Fast forward to the next morning, when tranquil tunes still drift from my speakers, accompanied by my awareness that none of the above CDs are in my player. I had been experiencing the languid arrangements on Rene's (pronounced "Rennie") For it is Written. Cinematic in scope, this is music meant to awaken the mind's wondering eye via the emotions. Stepping between somber and up-tempo optimism on "Beyond the Horizon" and "The Human Spirit", Rene conveys his versatility, whether it's placid pianos and rippling cymbals ("Joie de Vivre") or Spanish guitars and North African flourishes (Sting's "Fragile" and the impressive "Mediterranean Desire"). It seems that modern instrumental music's "heavy hitters" have some competition in the form of a young, earnest, one-named Midwesterner.

From the contented sigh producing relaxation of the lead track "Beyond The Horizon" to the uplifting piano work of "New World Anthem", Chicago's RENE shows several sides of his abilities and feelings on this wonderful instrumental CD, his second. The luscious world flavorings of "Mediterranean Desire" and the snappy but laid back salsa feel of "Fragile" prove with an exclamation point the versatility of this well-respected composer. A masterful weaving of jazz, new age, classical, Latin and other worldly styles.
